Who needs another kid anyway?

Our first "baby" has put us through the ringer the past 2 weeks.

2 -- # of days of profuse vomiting
1 -- # of times I stepped out of bed in to a pile of throw up
25 -- # of times he vomited all over the carpet
4 -- # of days of not eating
1 -- # of days of not drinking
$2500+ -- enough said
= one very expensive bouncy ball that got lodged in his small intestine

I'm thinking it might be a better idea to become a cat person.

But who could deny this cute face?

Boulder at 5 weeks old

There are a lot of people that wouldn't be able to believe we spent that kind of money on a dog. Heck, that's what it cost to give birth to my boys. And there are others that would totally understand.

This dog was our first baby. We got him 2 days before Christmas our first year of marriage (we like to do the holidays big...our oldest was born just before Christmas and our youngest was born just before Thanksgiving). We met him when he was only a few weeks old and fell in love.

We've had our ups and downs with this dog. There have been days when I have seriously asked my husband to find him a new home (Marley & Me anyone?) but when it came down to it, I couldn't imagine him not around...especially when he still has so many years ahead of him. And for all his faults, he is amazing with the boys. It really wasn't his fault which makes it that much harder. The kids like to throw their bouncy balls around the house and our dog likes to chase them. He must have lunged and inhaled at the same time because there aren't any bite marks on the ball...and he's never been a chewer anyway.

So, this was his one do over. We won't be able to afford it if it happens again.
